Watermelon-Coconut-Lime Refresher & Watermelon-Strawberry Salad

The first days of summer started with a heat wave and keeping hydrated became quite a challenge! It seemed natural to combine our favorite summer fruits; watermelon, strawberries, lime with coconut water superfood for the extra hydration needed. The watermelon-coconut-lime refresher and watermelon-strawberry salad are both so simple to make and the yet so healthy too!

Did you know that a well functioning renal system is important to keep your body in balance? With weak kidneys, your body can become prone to imbalances like high blood pressure,  thin skin, low back pain, loss of balance, and bladder issues. Hydration is important to strengthen the renal system and drinking and eating foods high in water content can help you stay hydrated. Both watermelon and strawberries have 92% water content. Watermelon and Coconut water are both alkalizing, cleansing and nourishing. We couldn’t seem to drink or eat enough of these foods over this past week and wanted to share our watermelon-coconut obsession with you.

Watermelon Benefits: High in antioxidants, vitamins and electrolytes, watermelon helps to cleanse the kidneys and helps the liver to process ammonia. These 2 recipes below are both so healthy and taste fantastic! The flavors just blend together so well. We hope you enjoy both of them as much as we did!

Watermelon-Coconut-Lime Refresher

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cubed watermelon
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 lime peeled
  • Sparkling Water (optional)
Method:
Place the watermelon in a blender with the coconut water and lime. Blend on high speed until smooth.

 

Watermelon-Strawberry Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cubed watermelon
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • Feta Cheese (optional)
  • Fresh Mint
Method:
Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix together.
