So far summer has brought beautiful sunny days, enjoyable play days at the pool and beach, and frolicking outside later than usual without worrying about homework or getting to school on time. There is another side of summer too, which brings prickly heat, or heat rash, bug bites, sun burn, and other skin irritations.
Chamomile is one of the most commonly used herbal teas taken internally to help induce relaxation and sleep. We found that it is one of our favorite DIY bath soaks to relieve skin inflammation. In addition to summertime skin woes, this bath soak is great for hemorrhoids too!
Chamomile Bath Salts:
2 cups epsom salts
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup of loose leaf chamomile tea or 3 chamomile tea bags
4-5 drops of lavender (optional)
Combine all ingredients together and store in jar. Add 1 cup of salts to warm bath and soak for 10-15 minutes.
