Here Comes the Sun

May 4, 2014

It’s hard to believe that it’s already May! However, the weather has changed and it feels like summer. Since May is Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, we’ve had sunscreen on our mind.

There are 2 types of sunscreen

Chemical barrier: Absorbs ultraviolet rays and gives more UVA protection!

Physical barrier: Provides an actual barrier to prevent sunrays from reaching your skin. Better for sensitive skin.

Here’s a little quick guide on Eminence Organic moisturizers with sunscreen and Epicuren Discovery sunscreens.

Other things to look for in sunscreen are:

Broad Spectrum Coverage, which means the sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Both are shown to cause skin aging and skin cancer.

SPF number, which refers to what percentage of UVB rays are being blocked out. No sunscreen can protect you from 100% of rays. SPF 15 will block out 93% of UVB rays and SPF 45 will block out about 97% of UVB rays.

Bring on the Summer!
